Coriander Oil

Coriander is the seed of the cilantro herb (Coriandrum sativum). It originated in the Mediterranean region but is now cultivated across countries in Asia such as China and India. The plant, with its leaves known as cilantro, are part of the parsley family. Both the seeds and leaves are used extensively in food preparation but each lends a different flavor.

Coriander oil, the essential oil extracted from dried coriander seeds, has various uses and is said to improve digestion when taken internally. It has analgesic, antioxidant, and stimulating properties.

Benefits of Coriander Oil for Skin:

  • Cleansing and clarifying. Coriander oil is rich in cleansing properties which clear and tone the skin. This results in a healthier-looking complexion and skin that generally has a better appearance.
  • Antiseptic and analgesic. In addition to its cleansing nature, coriander oil also works to reduce pain when applied to the skin.
  • Antibacterial. Another important benefit of coriander oil for skin use is its antibacterial properties. Studies suggest that linalool, the main chemical compound in coriander oil, is responsible for fighting numerous strains of bacteria including E. coli and S. typhi.
