Tea Tree

Native to Australia, tea tree produces a remarkable essential oil known to contain properties that kill bacteria, fungi and viruses. It is also an immuno-stimulant which means it increases the body’s ability to naturally defend itself. Tea tree makes an excellent deodorant and disinfectant and is used in treating dandruff, insect bites, oily skin, fever and colds. Tea tree oil is anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiviral, immuno-stimulant and antibacterial.

Benefits of Tea Tree for Skin:

  • Antiseptic and cleansing. Few skincare products are as powerful as tea tree in cleansing the skin and removing harmful microorganisms. It is known to treat a host of skin issues resulting from bacteria and fungi. Tea tree oil, in particular, prevents skin conditions like acne and is especially useful for oily skin. That’s because tea tree removes excess oils which often attract bacterial growth within the skin’s pores.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to its cleansing, antibacterial properties, tea tree also effectively treats inflammation in the skin. It reduces redness, itching and pain associated with skin inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. This results in skin that is healthier, smoother and blemish-free.
  • Treats acne. Acne usually thrives on skin that contains excess oil secretions called sebum. Since it removes oils and harmful microorganisms, tea tree oil may be used to treat acne breakouts. Tea tree also softens and moisturizes the skin.
  • Anti-infectious and healing. Tea tree’s powerful antibacterial properties also make it a potent healing agent. In fact, researchers suggest that it speeds up healing in wounds caused by bacterial infections.
