Lifelong Upstate New Yorker Sallie Austin was born into a family of makers and doers. In 1982, Sallie’s father, inspired by his resourceful and no-nonsense neighbor, Sallye Ander, created the first handmade soap bars in the family kitchen to soothe his son’s troubled skin.
A generation later, Sallie is leading the SallyeAnder natural skincare company forward with that same dedication to melding purity of craft, creativity, and a desire help.
At the company’s Hudson Valley headquarters in the Hudson River town of Beacon, NY, Sallie continues to build the business on the premise and promise that Castile soap—handmade with only olive oil blended with other all-natural ingredients— is both a salve for sensitive skin and a healthy alternative to soaps laden with unnecessary or harmful additives.
Supporting our community
SallyeAnder gives our handmade skincare essentials to organizations supporting those in need in both the Hudson Valley and the greater New York area.
Every year, thousands of our natural soap bars and other products help raise money for organizations or reach hands directly through food banks, mutual aid, and outreach services.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, SallyeAnder donated more than 5,000 handmade soap bars to local school lunch drives and essential care workers.
